Meet Dr.West

Dr. Mimi Almaz West, Ph.D., CRC, LCPC is a counselor educator, mental health clinician, and disability consultant with over 20 years of experience spanning higher education administration, clinical supervision, and disability services. She earned her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Iowa, completing one of the nation's most rigorous CACREP-accredited doctoral programs. She also holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University.

A proud member of the illustrious Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Dr. West taught undergraduate and graduate courses, supervised master’s-level clinicians, and published extensively on health disparities and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Her dual credentials as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) uniquely position her at the intersection of clinical mental health and higher education policy.

Dr. West leads a specialized counseling and consulting practice that supports college students with disabilities—particularly those navigating mental health challenges, ADHD, or learning disorders. Through therapy, executive functioning support, and documentation for accommodation, she empowers individuals and institutions to create more equitable, accessible academic environments.
